Declaration of Independence from the Dictator Donald Pippin!
On this day, the 17th of September, in the year 2006, Queen Julia the Divine declares independence from the American Government Dictator, Donald Pippin. Mr. Donald Pippin has reigned over his territory ruthlessly and mercilessly, discriminating and unforgiving, and Queen Julia has decided, for the better of the Lacrista Empire, to severe ties with this dictator. He has not minded the opinions, complaints, and advice from subjects in his classroom territory, and has caused much suffering and stress on his account. He has brainwashed us and teased us and now it is time to stage a revolution.
Queen Julia the Divine believes that in a classroom setting, there should NOT be a dictatorship. If the dictator (aka teacher) is teaching wrong information, doesn't listen to his/her subjects (aka students) and doesn't really care what his subjects go through each night to finish work assigned, there will be utter chaos and hatred throughout an entire year. There won't be effective learning due to all of this, therefore the students bomb the final exams, FCAT, and SAT. Queen Julia also believes that Mr. Pippin, being a dictator with too much power, has taken a liking to the amount of power he has at controlling whether people pass or fail to terrorize and cause stress and nightmares to his students. This though, Queen Julia believes, is not entirely his fault because anyone with his amount of power is inclined toward this behaviour, and the simplest solution is to reign in his power, turn the dictatorship into another more effective type of government, and let him become the great teacher he is with out this power-hungry addition. Here is Queen Julia's list of grievences:
He expects that we always have our notebook spotless and ready for notebok checks even when he gives so much notes and little time to let us straighten them up.
He expects us to fully comprehend our notes by next rotation, even if they are written in Old English.
He expects us to finish pop quizes and tests, writing a paragraph for the answers, in just one class.
He loaded our planners and schedules with an atrocious amount of homework.
He places us in groups and expects us to get all group work done even if there is a lazy and not caring student in the group, or the whole group gets zeros.
He assigns homework to be done on an internet forum, which can prevent students from getting their homework in on time for number of reasons: computer crashes, no internet, library is closed, the Robinson Media Center is closed because of some PTA meeting, etc.
He is strict in class policies and you can not be tardy even within good reason.
There is never a break from homework.
His handwriting is a joke.
He doesn't care if one of his essay tests is on the same day as the Biology exam or the Algebra test.
He doesn't clearly explain to us why our grades are low.
He teases us in class.
He gives us heart attacks when telling us our grades by jokingly telling us we have F's and D's just to see how we'd react.
He makes topics as boring as possible.
He spends too much time on the lesson and when we have to do the Activity, we don't have time for it, therefore we don't understand the lesson.
He tells us the bellwork questions are extra credit and get our hopes up, yet when we look at the bellwork at home, every single one of them is not understandable and/or are logic puzzles only Mr. Pippin understands.
Queen Julia and her peers have attempted to make the class setting a better experience with complaints to the Dictator himself, who doesn't care and disregarded these complaints, and to school administrators, who always brush it off, saying they'll talk to him, yet they always forget or are too busy. We have written petitions and have written him e-mails, which he never answers. As a result, Queen Julia and her peers have tired of complaining and decided to take action in there own hands: declare independence.
In taking action, we will hold student meetings discussing how to transform Mr. Pippin's dictatorship into a better form of government, we will set rules down on the amount of homework and classwork we can fit in, we will advise other teachers about Mr. Pippin's behaviors, we will pressure Mr. Pippin to change his ways, and we will boycott in class by refusing to do work. We will take responsibility for our action, and hope all things will be for the better.
